off land is an ambient solo project by tim dwyer incorporating contemporary classical minimalism with lush ambient textures.

tim dwyer, from the north-eastern united states, started teaching himself music composition back in 1998. off land sort of began life in 2001 with the birth of his first solo ambient project the x:f system. the x:f system released the album Microvast on second thought records in April of 2004. covering three years of experimentation, the record was a collection of various approaches to ambient. at this point, the name x:f system was dropped and plans for a follow-up ambient album were not in the works. off land landed in mid 2004, when tim was contacted by the ambient label em:t records who wanted to hear some new ambient material. unfortunately the artistic directions that both em:t and rim's new off land music were heading in just weren't compatible at the time. when not making ambient music, tim writes and performs experimental pop music under the name full-source.
